A Breakfast like No Other: Wow! Donuts and Drips

The newest donut shop frying it up in West Plano finally opened. If you haven’t put the kibosh on those New Year’s Resolutions yet, you will now. Why? The newest donut shop frying it up in West Plano finally opened!

Located at 6509 W. Park Blvd, Wow! Donuts & Drips has been cranking out massive numbers of doughnuts since they opened just before Christmas. I’ve been hearing about Wow! for a while now, and the fact that they serve up to 120 varieties of doughnuts (unheard of compared to any other doughnut shop I’ve visited) was something I could not ignore and I decided to test it out myself.

Right when I walked in, one word came to mind: wow. The visual appearance of the shop is so aesthetically pleasing, from the color scheme to the trendy colors and décor, “Wow!” really summarized my emotions. The shop is light blue and pink themed, with retro furnishings, and decorated with the oh so popular neon light signs, wall paintings, and more. Not to mention they have 5 large square glass display cases, each filled with 20 different “designer” doughnuts. The immense amount of variety is jaw dropping, you might find yourself having a hard time choosing.

The whole environment of Wow! was very welcoming. There was an ample number of employees waiting to assist me and a good number of other customers. They were able to help my sister and I decide on flavors and explain the menu to us. All the employees are serious experts on all the doughnuts and their flavors.

I really can’t avoid rattling on about the entire menu, so I will try to keep it short and sweet. Just some of the options for donut flavors include: sweet potato pie, grilled banana and Nutella, cookie dough, coconut cream pie, red velvet, pumpkin spice, egg nog cream, maple bacon, pistachio, peanut butter-bacon-banana, berries and cream, lemon cream, strawberry cheesecake, apple pie, gingerbread, pineapple upside-down cake, fritters (in apple, blueberry, or cherry), and salted caramel. The list goes on from there, and it is seriously impressive. I got to try the Salted Caramel and the Nutella Kit-Kat, 10/10 recommend. Carefully constructed and baked, it was the best donut I’ve had by far.

Of course, just like any classic Texan doughnut shop, they offer many sausage rolls. They make their dough from scratch, and fill them will chesses, spices, and jalapeno. But, we can’t forget about the drips. Wow! provides drip coffee using fine new technology and high-quality beans. I got to watch my coffee being made, from grinding the beans to pouring it into the cup.

Wow! originally planned on running 24-hours a day, but they have decided to cut back in these hours. It is highly understandable as they are a new business still looking into customer demand, etc. But, they still operate far more than any other doughnut shop, their current hours are 8AM-10PM daily.

Overall, it was pretty impressive for a doughnut shop. Places like Dunkin Doughnuts and other chains are hard to top, but Wow! puts a new spin on doughnut shops. You get so much more than just a glazed doughnut. You get a good experience, great coffee, and a doughnut that seems almost custom made for you. Definitely a must visit for some of the Plano locals, and not a far travel for the Dallas girls like me. Make a trip to Wow! Donuts & Drips for a good time, good vibes, and great doughnuts.
