Still Waiting on the Possibility of being a Princess?

He’s 18, tall, charming, and happens to be royalty; sounds perfect, right? Meet the most eligible bachelor prince, Prince Nikolai of Denmark.

The world went crazy when Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, married Catherine Middleton. Many were worried as to who would be their new royal, single, obsession. But they quickly recovered and simply turned their heads to his younger brother, Prince Harry of Whales.

More recently, the world has gone crazy over Harry’s engagement to the beautiful American actress and humanitarian, Meghan Markle. So, who is the spotlight going to move onto now?

Meet Prince Nikolai of Denmark, Count of Monpezat, a member of the Danish Royal Family. He is the elder son of Prince Joachim and his first wife, Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg. He’s only 18 years old, making it even harder for high school girls to not start planning their royal fairy-tale with him.

While most teenage boys are celebrating their 18th birthdays with their friends, Nikolai spent his on the family yacht, the Dannebrog. His whole family attended this event; even his grandmother, Queen Margrethe, and grandfather, Henrik, Prince Consort of Denmark, who recently had a brawl.

To all those younger girls out there, do not get upset too quickly; he has a younger brother who is just as royal and is 15 years old; Prince Felix. It is almost as if they are the Danish version of William and Harry.

Prince Felix of Denmark, Count of Monpezat, is the younger son of Prince Joachim and his former wife, Alexandra. As of December 2017, Felix is eighth in the line of succession to the Danish throne, so he is a bit far away from getting his hands on the crown. But hey, every little girl’s dream is to be a princess, so there should not be too much fret about him not getting the crown.

Prince Nikolai is known to be the more attractive of the two, but before you begin to imagine what your kids would look like, keep in mind his family does not exactly have a track record when it comes to successful marriages.

Nikolai’s parents divorced when he was just a kid, but it did not take long for his father to find a new wife; Princess Marie of Denmark. This new marriage gave Nikolai two new younger siblings, a half-sister and a half-brother. Not only have his parents divorced, but his grandparents are known to often have public arguments with each other, despite the fact they are still married. One argument even led his grandfather to say he does not want to be buried with his wife, the Queen of Denmark. Talk about royal drama!

To those of you who like your men well-educated, Prince Nikolai might become even more attractive. He is currently completing his education at Herlufsholm School and Estate. This mouthful was founded in 1565 and is a private day and boarding school by the River Suså in Næstved, about 80 kilometers south of Copenhagen.

In fact, Denmark itself is not too shabby of a place. It is rich in culture, beautiful architecture, and history. One of the more well-known cities and capitals, Copenhagen, includes the Tivoli Gardens, the 17th century royal museum known as Rosenberg Castle, and the Danish royalties home, Amalienborg.

The Amalienborg Palace is in Copenhagen, Denmark. This ‘house,’ consists of four identical classical palace buildings around an octagonal courtyard. In the center of the plaza is a monumental equestrian statue of Amalienborg’s founder, King Frederick V.

Another well-known land mark in this city is The Little Mermaid statue, inspired by the fairytale that took place off the coast of Denmark. The Danish author, Hans Christian Anderson, probably never imagined there would be another Danish prince as handsome as Eric from The Little Mermaid.

And as for prince Nikolai’s Ariel to his Eric, there are plenty of girls who would be more than happy to fill in that role. Amanda Stockard, a 17-year-old Junior in high school exclaimed as seeing a picture of him, “Easily most eligible bachelor in Demark! He’s absolutely stunning, he should be a model!”

Stockard is not alone, as several other high schoolers also agree to Nikolai being a heartthrob.

Marleigh Wood, another junior from Ursuline Academy, was shocked the moment she saw a picture of him, “Oh wow…I would marry him, even if he wasn’t a prince!” she said.

Many thought there would not be any royal bachelors for a while, now that the two most well-known European princes have been officially taken. But who knew a hidden treasure lied behind the curtains of the Danish royal palace?

Prince Nikolai, be ready for the ride of your life; it is your time to shine, now that the spotlight is on you.
